This Orange Dreamsicle Smoothie brings your favorite childhood summer flavors into a healthy smoothie that packs in 10 grams of protein per serving! Sure to be loved by both kids and adults alike.
Orange Dreamsicle Smoothie
With only a few glorious weeks of summer left, my family fully intends to enjoy every last second of the sun, sand, and swimming before the crisp fall weather and changing leaves arrive.
There’s something about summer that always brings back nostalgic memories of childhood for me. Whether it was playing manhunt with the neighborhood kids until late into the night or attending our local day-camp (you are looking at the winner of the knock-hockey tournament and donut-on-a-string eating contest here) – summer was always full of carefree playing and laughing.
Of course, nothing brings back those childhood memories faster than the sound of the ice cream man coming down the street. He drove up every day to our day camp, so our parents gave us a dollar a day to spend on anything we wanted. That iconic jingle brings me back to buying snow cones, ice cream sandwiches and – my favorite – Orange Creamsicle® Pops.
As an adult now, I know it’s probably not the best idea to indulge in a purchase from the ice cream man every single day. Yet these warm summer days still call for a tasty treat. What’s a summer lovin’ gal with a sweet tooth to do?
Enter my dream drink: The Orange Dreamsicle Smoothie. It tastes just like an Orange Creamsicle® Pop, but in more nutritious smoothie form. Yahoo!
This smoothie recipe makes two servings, and while each serving is a few more calories than the traditional ice cream pop – it packs in 10 grams of protein per serving! That protein is essential for helping you feel satisfied (ya know, so you’re not reaching for another snack 10 minutes later). Plus it’s got more than 15% of your daily calcium needs and more than 60% of your Vitamin C quota for the day. A total winner in my book.
Go ahead and soak up these last days of summer with this delicious smoothie recipe!
